2 years ago I was in a crisis. I was newly single and the heaviest I had ever been. I had zero self confidence, and I was in a spiral of stress and negative thoughts. it. As my bills doubled overnight I had to take on a second job alongside my 9-5 just to keep afloat. Which meant I had no time to do anything about my current situation. Being a woman over 30, I had to balance those 2 jobs with making time for friends and family, as well as the never ending list of all of the daily chores and errands that needed to be done. My health and weight loss goals were pushed further and further down the “to do’ list. Questions like “why am i the only one who doesn’t have enough time “ haunted me, making me feel like a failure

As my body rapidly changed I completely lost the confidence I had in my 20s. The scale was creeping up no matter what I tried. And trust me, I tried everything; no carbs, juice cleanses, meal replacements…there was even a moment that I purchased dubious “miracle weight loss pills”. Yet nothing worked. I thought that something was wrong with me, that I was the only one who continuously failed at every weight loss attempt. It reached the stage where I couldn't fit into the majority of my clothes, and the ones that did made me feel frumpy and unsexy. . Every time i looked in the mirror the voices in my head kept repeating the same word over and over and over again “fat”

Unknowingly, stress became my constant companion. I had no idea I was stressed yet every night I was reaching for wine to “destress” after a long day and treating myself to chocolate “because I deserved it”. I was seeking solace to my inner turmoil with things that brought me momentary comfort and joy, only to make me feel guilty and shameful afterwards. I remember one evening eating a whole large pizza and two chocolate lava cakes until I felt physically sick. I was embarrassed I’d let myself get here. And then the whole cycle would start again. 

I hit rock bottom, and I knew something had to change. So I went on a mission to find a solution… That's when I discovered the power of going back to basics. Focusing on the fundamental health practices and learning to fuel my body in the way it needed transformed everything. 

Going back to the basics transformed everything. It didn't demand extra time in my day; instead, it gave me newfound energy and efficiency. Suddenly it feels like I've gained extra hours in my day. I have ample time for everything I need to do, without the suffocating feeling of overwhelm. All while still maintaining a full time job and growing side business. 

By nourishing my body with the essentials it craved, I began to see remarkable changes. As I was treating my body better, my mindset followed. My negative self-talk faded and my thoughts and words became kinder. I could fit into clothes that had long been banished to the back of my closet. As I started to recognize myself in the mirror, my confidence began to resurface. And it showed in other areas of my life too. 

Fueling my body properly not only reduced stress but also made weight loss feel more attainable. Now, I no longer reach for a glass of wine after a tough day; instead, I indulge in treats on my terms, without the guilt. With less stress in my life I have been able to drop the stubborn weight and I have a whole new approach to my overall health and wellness. 

This journey taught me that simplicity is the key to wellness. By prioritizing my health, I've unlocked a newfound sense of confidence and vitality.
